Held last weekend in the Bois de Vincennes, the We Love Green festival developed a series of spectacular initiatives to deliver on its environmental promise, particularly in terms of packaging and waste management.

We Love Green: the name of the festival, whose 2025 edition ended last Sunday, already gives a strong indication of the virtuous promise of an event where electro, hip-hop and rock concerts rub shoulders with talks by a think tank dedicated to the CSR challenges of tomorrow’s world.

Because We Love Green is not just about loud music! The aim of the association, created in 2011, is to ensure ‘the development and promotion of eco-citizenship and awareness of sustainable development through the design, production and organisation of artistic events in the performing arts’.

This objective is reflected in a series of commitments and practices that clearly set the festival apart from the norm, from the deliberate absence of car parking (except for people with reduced mobility) to 100% vegetarian catering. Particular attention is also paid to packaging and waste management:

  • policy banning single-use plastic (Drastic on plastic)
  • returnable water bottles and reusable tableware with a deposit/return system
  • waste recycling with 15 separate and clearly marked waste streams to facilitate recycling.

In 2024, 78% of the 130 tonnes of waste (including 100 tonnes of litter and urine) produced at the festival will be recycled,’ announced the festival organisers.

The reduction in paper and cardboard consumption is also ensured by the implementation of a paperless ticketing system and the choice of ‘green’ signage (eco-materials) on site.
