Itinéraire Bis: reuse near you
The Vrac et Réemploi network reports back on its Itinéraire Bis tour, designed to raise public awareness of reuse practices
‘Promoting reuse in a fun way using practical tools tailored to the realities of citizens’ : this was the objective of the Vrac et Réemploi network when it launched Itinéraire Bis, a six-month tour (September 2024-March 2025) in six stages across the Centre-Val-de-Loire region. At the heart of the initiative was an eye-catching ‘educational and immersive caravan’ in which two locations that are strategic for waste management in general and reuse in particular had been recreated: a kitchen and a bathroom.
Nearly 1,500 curious visitors took part in the event, generally leaving with ‘special reuse’ goodies distributed by the network (reusable boxes, bulk bags, reusable mugs) as well as the booklet ‘Les 10 gestes vrac et réemploi’ (10 tips for bulk buying and reuse), enabling them to continue the good practices they discovered in the caravan at home.
But beyond the on-site visit, the initiative also created a real echo chamber for the network’s educational work, which recorded 200,000 listens to a radio spot broadcast on local stations and Spotify, 1,500 visits to the web page dedicated to the project, 20 media mentions in the local press and increased traffic on the Vrac et Réemploi Instagram page.
At the end of this adventure, the network has made an initial assessment: ‘Itinéraire Bis has shown that it is possible to raise awareness effectively without making citizens feel guilty, by promoting the actions they have already taken and showing that others are within their reach’.
To help disseminate the lessons learned from this initiative, the network plans to publish a guide on citizen awareness this autumn.
