As an exhibitor at ALLFORPACK EMBALLAGE PARIS, Pöppelmann has just opened a new large hall on its premises in Lohne (Oldenburg).

‘One of Europe’s most modern production sites in the plastics industry’ is how plastics manufacturing leader Pöppelmann described its new Hall 43, located at its Brockdorf/Lohne (Oldenburg) site. After two years of construction, the new production facility is now complete and boasts impressive dimensions, with 16,500 square metres of floor space and 23,400 square metres of floor area.

No to relocation

For Pöppelmann, the inauguration of this new facility is also a way of reaffirming its regional roots. ‘At a time when many industrial companies are turning their backs on Germany and building new factories abroad, we have clearly affirmed our commitment to the Lohne production site with this factory,’ said Vincent Otto, grandson of the company’s founder, on behalf of the family that owns the business.

Hall 43 will house the production of small parts for Pöppelmann, but above all it will become the new home of the KAPSTO division, which specialises in industrial plastic protective covers. For the first time, all of the subsidiary’s processes will be linked together under one roof and in state-of-the-art working conditions, from material procurement and logistics to production and further processing.

Sustainable commitment

The inauguration also reflects Pöppelmann’s commitment to sustainable construction. The construction project has already been awarded the highest Platinum certification by the German Sustainable Building Council (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen or DGNB). Final certification is expected to be granted thanks to the use of appropriate building materials and the many additional sustainability features that Pöppelmann has incorporated into its new hall, including a 2,000 kWp photovoltaic system on the roof and south facade, greening of the roof over an area of nearly 10,500 square metres, use of a 650 cubic metre rainwater tank, and more.
