Ranpak: sustainable automation for the future at ALL4PACK Emballage Paris
Ranpak was able to distinguish itself at this 2022 edition of ALL4PACK Emballage Paris thanks to its latest machine, the Cut’it! Evo. Olivier Cochet, general sales manager France, Spain, Italy and Portugal at Ranpak, agreed to answer our questions.
The American paper-based vacuum filling and automation company was present at the 2022 edition of the ALL4PACK Emballage Paris trade fair, which was held at the Parc des Expositions in Villepinte, to unveil its latest innovations to the general public.
This was a great opportunity to introduce to the public its latest automated case sealing product, the Cut’it! Evo. A baptism of fire for this ‘newcomer’, who passed with flying colours, winning the ALL4PACK Innovation in the “Logistics Performance” category. A great reward for the company that is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
The Cut’it! Evo, the sustainable automation of the future
This is an automated case sealing module working on formats 230×150 up to 650x450mm, and even up to 1000x600mm in its XXL version. Capable of both increasing productivity and reducing costs, this machine reduces the height of the cases, while speeding up and simplifying the logistics process. The filled cartons arrive in the machine, which estimates the maximum height of the product it is about to pack, cuts the corners to the right size, folds the flaps, puts on a lid and finally closes the carton. The Cut’it Evo can thus process 15 cartons per minute, guaranteeing high output and adaptability to peak periods.
In addition to the productivity gain, Olivier Cochet explains that the machine also allows savings to be made by rationalising the volumes shipped, reducing them by at least 25% thanks to the optimal cutting of the cartons: a reduction that also makes it possible to reduce the number of lorries on the roads, which is a powerful way of reducing the environmental impact. Saving space during transport, but also on site; despite its imposing appearance, the Cut’it! Evo is much more space-efficient than conventional packing stations.
This innovative and easy-to-operate solution combines cost-efficiency, durability and high protection for an optimal customer experience, while eliminating the need for the operator to perform tedious tasks.
A very successful trade fair for Ranpak
The Cut’It! Evo was not the only card Ranpak decided to play at the show: the company also won the Packaging Oscar for its Recycold cooler bags, which reflect Ranpak’s commitment to sustainability.
These patented plastic pouches have a polyethylene coating and are filled with a fully biodegradable cooling gel made from paper to be food contact compatible. Recycold pouches have a freezing point of -2 degrees Celsius and maintain temperatures between 8 and -5 degrees Celsius, making them suitable for both single-use commercial applications and repeated use by consumers. At the end of its life, the gel can be disposed of as compost and the pouch can be recycled with the paper.
ALL4PACK Emballage Paris, the royal road
Olivier Cochet confided in us that he was rather satisfied with the way the ALL4PACK Emballage Paris 2022 edition went. Ranpak’s first appearance at the show was more than beneficial he explained, especially in terms of image for Ranpak.
Already, in light of the prizes won by the company, as one of the company’s objectives was to introduce the Cut’it! Evo to the general public and gage the level of enthusiasm. It has to be said that the response was very positive.
On the whole, Olivier Cochet says he was rather happy with the company’s participation, and welcomed this necessary initiative which consists in bringing together the actors of the packaging and logistics sectors in order to envisage a more sustainable future for the industry and the planet.
