Lecta: a new stage in decarbonisation
Thanks to an agreement with Naturgy, Lecta is integrating biomethane into the production processes of two of its plants in Spain and continuing its ‘Agenda for a sustainable business‘
Exhibiting at ALL4PACK EMBALLAGE PARIS, Lecta has announced an agreement with Naturgy to integrate biomethane into its energy mix. Obtained from the processing of different types of residue with qualities similar to those of natural gas, this biomethane is already being used as a source of energy at the Lecta plants in Leitza (Navarre) and Zaragoza (Aragon).
‘ The renewable gas supplied by Naturgy has guarantees of origin and certified proof of sustainability, ensuring that Lecta can reduce emissions from our industrial activity and meet our commitments to sustainable development as set out in Agenda 2030,’ says the specialist in the manufacture and distribution of special papers for labels and flexible packaging, which is delighted that the company has taken “ another step towards protecting the environment, combating climate change and promoting the circular economy ”.
A sustainable commitment
This new step is in line with the commitments made by the group as part of the ‘Lecta Agenda for Sustainable Business’.
‘ Lecta’s strong commitment to sustainability is underpinned by a strong ethical commitment to respect and responsibility towards the communities and society with which we interact. In 2022, Lecta has chosen to make its ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) strategy a pillar of its business strategy. In addition, Lecta’s strict environmental and safety policies and Code of Ethics are the foundation of our business,’ the group summarised in a press release.
